NEBDN - Examination format:

The NEBDN examination fee is £510, which includes the PebblePad RoE logins, written exam and OSCE exam.
After completing the NEBDN exam registration, students will receive the PebblePad logins from the NEBDN.
National Diploma in Dental Nursing assessment and final exam format consists of 3 parts:

1.RoE completion.
2.Written Examination.
3.OSCE Examination.

RoE completion. Written Examination. OSCE Examination.
1.Record of Experience (RoE):
Every student must complete their RoE/RoC to the NEBDN final exam eligibility.
RoE is a record of the various dental procedures assisted to their dentist and gained experience while working as a trainee dental nurse in their dental practice.
Learners will receive plenty of guidance from tutors on how to complete their RoE.
RoE must be completed before proceeding to the written and OSCE examination components.
2. Written examination:
The NEBDN currently conducts the written exam online by MaxExam Software app.
Therefore, students can attend final exams from their home. Learners are monitored by a webcam during the examination.
MaxExam software records video and audio during the examination and Learners monitored throughout the examination.
This is a computer-based written exam, which covers theoretical knowledge of Learners.
WRITTEN - EXAMINATION FORMAT:
Written exam consists total of 100 questions and the written exam duration is 2 hours.
100 questions divided into 60 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) & 60 Extended Matching Questions (EMQs).
60 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) duration is 1hour and 40 EMQ’s exam duration is 1 hour.
3.Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE):
This is a practical knowledge assessment of the Learners.
Learners must pass the written examination to attend the OSCE examination.
OSCE examination is about trainee dental nurse’s day-to-day activities in their dental practice, for example, giving the post extraction instructions to patients.
OSCE EXAMINATION FORMAT:
OSCE exam is a practical knowledge-based assessment exam, which consisting of a total 12 OSCEs stations.
These 12 OSCEs will be divided into 2 parts of exam.
OSCE Examination Part 1:
Workbook exam - consists of 7 stations, these 7 OSCE stations conducted by MaxExam app.
Learners need to select these 7 OSCEs answers from given options, for example, selecting the RCT instruments.
Workbook examination duration is 1 hour.

OSCE Examination Part 2:
The Zoom exam consists of 5 OSCE stations.
NEBDN examiner will ask you 5 OSCE scenarios on Zoom. You need to explain these 5 OSCE stations to examiner, for example, giving the Post extraction instructions to patients.
The Zoom OSCE part examination duration is 40 minutes to 1 hour.
Upon successful completion of the course and exams, Learners will be awarded with the National Diploma in Dental Nursing Certificate and badge, then Learners will be eligible to register with the GDC as a dental nurse.
